Industry watchers and tea leaf readers are again signaling that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) will launch an Internet-connected HDTV by the end of 2011.
AppleInsider quoted a report from Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White who said he received "data points" about the potential launch while attending a China electronics trade show. White's belief is that an Apple Smart TV "would go well beyond the miniature $99 second generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers."
Another Apple-centric pub, macgasm.net took a more tempered approach to White's report, noting that while there is "certainly a lot more that can be done with a fancy new smart television ... that doesn't exactly mean that Apple's on the verge of pumping out 40-inch televisions any time soon."
