AT&T U-Verse subs unchanged in Q4

AT&T's Q4 report showed no increase in the number of subscribers for its U-Verse service during the quarter: It stayed at 3,000 subscribers. An AT&T spokesman admitted the "vast majority" of those 3,000 are located in the original testbed for the service, San Antonio, TX. Late in the fourth quarter, the service provider began offering service in another 10 markers: Houston, San Francisco, Indianapolis and Hartford, CT. AT&T is standing by its goal to pass 8 million living units by the end of 2007 and 19 million by the end of 2008, not including the area's Bell South had lined up for IPTV service. AT&T's total number of DISH Network subscribers increased by 49,000 to 632,000 by the end of 2006.
