Atlantic Broadband is latest pay-TV operator to hook major promo around Netflix

Atlantic Broadband has become the latest MSO to use Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) programming to try to sell pay-TV services, offering three months' free service from the SVOD company to new customers who sign up for its TiVo-enabled bundles.

Those who sign up for Atlantic Broadband's double- and triple-play packages with TiVo DVRs by Dec. 31 are eligible for the 90-days-of-free-Netflix promotion.

Last month, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) launched a similar promotion in the New York City area, offering a year free of the SVOD service, plus a $150 Visa gift card, to those who signed up for FiOS triple-play services.

"Our goal is to seamlessly deliver customers with all the entertainment they want--whether that is their favorite cable programming or streaming content from the Internet--quickly, easily and right to their TV," said David Isenberg, chief marketing and strategy officer for Atlantic Broadband, the 13th biggest cable operator in the United States.

"That's why we integrated Netflix access into our TiVo bundles last spring and why we are so excited to launch this special holiday promotion," he added. "This three-month Netflix gift subscription will make it easier for potential customers to enjoy the integrated Netflix experience we deliver through one device, on any screen in their home. We think it is a great way to kick off the holiday season."
