Sometimes the smallest stories have the most levels of complexity. Take the case of U.S. Rep Joe Courtney, a Connecticut Democrat who is upset that his state university's NCAA basketball game against Bucknell is on cable and not broadcast TV.
Courtney stepped away from issues such as the economy, the oil crisis and, of course, Japan to write and tell CBS executives about how "extremely disappointing" the decision to air the game on TNT is. "As many as 150,000 households in Connecticut will not be able to watch," he wrote.
That's strange behavior for a congressman; even stranger is the response of the CBS execs who said fans who can't get the game on cable can still watch online. Doesn't that mean they'd need a broadband connection?
