Charter Communications will hire 200 employees to work in its expanded San Antonio, Texas call-center operation, as the cable company continues to make personnel moves following its acquisitions of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks.
Charter said it will add 200 workers to its One52 Office Center in the Westover Hills area of San Antonio — footprint added during its TWC takeover. That 50,000-square-foot location will also house about 245 former TWC employees, who are being moved over from an office near the San Antonio International Airport.
The announcement by Stamford, Conn.-based Charter comes just a few days after the company revealed that it will lay off 258 former TWC accountants and finance workers from an office in Charlotte.
While it eliminates redundancies created by its recent acquisitions, Charter is simultaneously insourcing what it says will be 20,000 jobs from overseas, most of them in the area of call center/customer support.
Charter is currently in the process of rebranding its newly acquired footprint under the Spectrum moniker.
“Moving into this new facility allows us to accelerate our team’s growth and help Spectrum remain the fastest growing TV, internet and voice provider in America,” said Richard Schultz, senior VP of sales and retention for Charter, in a statement. “Our trusted advisory team includes bilingual front-line and leadership positions to provide additional assistance for an increasingly diverse customer base.”
San Antonio is a popular location for call center operations, with the San Antonio Business Journal listing the following companies has having support offices in the region: SWBC, Rackspace Hosting Inc., USAA, and Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc., Southwest Airlines, Kohl's, IBEX Global, Allstate Insurance Co., General Motors Financial Company Inc., AT&T Inc., Nielsen N.V.
