Folks in the Chesapeake Bay area are eager to learn when Cox Communications will deploy its long awaited--and by the initial deadlines--overdue mobile wireless service in their franchise area. The Hampton Roads Pilot, in fact, pointed out much the same thing when it wrote, "March came. March went. In early April, Felicia Blow, a company spokeswoman in Chesapeake said Cox was testing the service and would unveil it 'very soon.'
An email sent to subscribers last week, however, suggested a subtle change and said that the service will be available "in the coming weeks."
Meanwhile, Cox Business in Rhode Island has launched an older, more established but nevertheless still wireless technology. The MSO's commercial services arm has rolled out statewide (OK, so that's not as big a deal as if it were in Alaska or Texas or something) WiFi service for business customers to tap into for free (they're subscribers so it's not actually free) at local hotspots.
