Hulu boss: 'No one considers Hulu Plus or Netflix to be a cable replacement yet'

Hulu actually pays "more than cable per viewer" for content and is "better than DVR," CEO Jason Kilar said during a Q&A with SFGate.com. "We obviously have a long way to go. No one considers Hulu Plus or Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) to be a cable replacement yet."

Kilar declined to compare Hulu to Netflix, preferring instead to focus on what Hulu does and what it means to "consumers world wide (who) deserve a service like Hulu."

For the Hulu model to succeed, Hulu needs "forward-looking old media execs" to show courage and support the model, Kilar said, specifically calling out outgoing NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker and Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) CEO Bob Iger.
