Android device support coming to Aereo

Aereo, the online streaming service that delivers local TV stations in some markets, will introduce an app for Android devices in September, the International Business Times reported. Support for Android's operating system will boost the number of devices compatible with Aereo's service, which had been limited to iOS devices, Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) Apple TV, Roku and most computer Web browsers.

Aereo is available today in four markets--New York, Boston, Atlanta and Salt Lake City. But it plans to expand to another 19 soon and has already set launch dates for Miami, Houston and Dallas.

Android support will be officially announced some time in September, but the company has not set a date yet, CEO Chet Kanojia told the International Business Times.
