Disney-owned ESPN's star wanes as revenues miss analyst estimates

ESPN continues to be a thorn in Disney's side: Despite posting 4 percent revenue growth in the first quarter, the network missed analyst estimates on revenue.

Perhaps even worse, ESPN saw subscriber numbers fall and its advertising revenue drop 4 percent year-over-year. The impact on its parent company was also apparent, with Disney shares dropping 6 percent immediately following its earnings announcement.
