Altice adds Amazon Prime Video to its OTT lineup

Cable operator Altice USA will integrate Amazon Prime Video into its Altice One streaming video platform.

Altice USA will provide the Altice One OTT platform to its Optimum and Suddenlink customers in their respective regions across the country. With this launch, the Amazon Prime Video app will be available natively on Altice One and alongside a user’s live, on-demand, and streaming video services included with Altice One.

Altice One uses a compact home hub with a personalized user interface, integrated access to streaming apps, and search via a Bluetooth voice-activated remote control. The cable operator said in July that it counts 429,000 unique Altice One customers as of the second quarter of 2019 (or approximately 13% of total video customers, up from 4% at the end of the second quarter of 2018).

This is the second collaboration between Amazon and Altice USA. The two companies recently partnered on a home speaker named Altice Amplify, which builds in features from Amazon Alexa. Altice Amplify also provides voice control for Altice One.

Altice One customers will have access to Prime Video in the coming months through the Prime Video app on the Altice One user interface and via the Amazon Prime Video mobile app.

Altice USA already provides streaming apps for Netflix and YouTube.
