FuboTV has become the latest virtual MVPD to increase its prices as expanding channel lineups and feature sets are driving up streaming TV costs.
FuboTV is raising the price of its base packages by $10 to $54.99 per month for new subscribers. The recently launched Family bundle is remaining at $59.99 per month.
The price increase is expected to roll out to some existing customers in the near future.
FuboTV said that the increase is coming due to the addition of channels over the past year, including AMC, Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, TNT and, soon to come, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Paramount Network, TV Land, VH1 and more, plus dozens of other national and regional channels. The new pricing kicks in today but new signups will receive a $10 discount on the first month.
“We are committed to continuing to deliver the best of live TV to our customers, as well as an exceptional user experience with 4K streams and premium features,” said fuboTV in a statement.

This is the first time fuboTV has raised its prices in more than a year. During that time, the company has introduced 4K content and updates like integration with Apple’s TV app.
But earlier this year fuboTV did adjust the price its legacy customers were paying for the base tier to put it in line with the $44.99 per month at new subscribers had been paying. That pricing change took effect in February.
FuboTV is not the only virtual MVPD to increase its prices in 2019. In January, Hulu announced a $5 price increase for its live TV product, taking it from $39.99 per month to $44.99. That change coincided with the company lowering the cost of its ad-supported streaming tier to $5.99 per month.
Earlier this month, DirecTV Now did some significant tinkering with its pricing by introducing two new service tiers that both include HBO.
DirecTV Now Plus (priced at $50/month) and Max (priced at $70/month) come with “dozens of live TV channels, including local ones, and an extensive on-demand library of great movies and TV shows.” The Max package will include more live sports channels, video-on-demand choices and HBO plus Cinemax.
DirecTV Now currently offers five different channel packages priced between $40/month and $65/month. The company said that existing DirecTV Now subscribers can remain on their current packages.
