The Roku Channel has added 16 new channels to its linear TV catalog, providing Roku users access to over 275 total live linear channels.
The new lineup offers entertainment channels such as “Cinevault Classics,” “FilmRise British TV” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” Roku is also adding family-friendly content like “Strawberry Shortcake” and “Kartoon Channel,” as well as reality programming like “Homeful” and “Torque.”
These channels are all available on Roku’s Live TV Zone, located in the home screen of Roku devices. Roku debuted its Live TV Zone in January, initially offering over 200 free linear TV channels.
Roku is actively keeping up in the free ad-supported TV market, having added 25 linear channels in February, including Fox Weather. The Roku Channel is one of the top five leading FAST services in the U.S., according to media analytics company One Touch Intelligence. FAST competitors like Pluto TV and YouTube TVhave also released new channels and content within the past few months.
Roku has claimed the top spot among smart TV platforms being sold in the U.S. in 2021, and is considering building its own branded smart TVs. Roku is also rolling out its OS 11 updates within the coming weeks, which includes features like photo sharing and an enhanced content discovery menu.
