Tubi today revealed plans to launch its free, ad-supported streaming video service in the U.K. in early 2020 along with Tubi Kids, a new dedicated section for children’s programming.
Tubi’s imminent launch in the U.K. follows the company’s recent deal to launch in Australia, where it's available through Telstra TV and Tubi.TV along with Samsung TVs, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Android devices, iOS devices, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Tubi promised to announce more new markets as part of its “rapid” international expansion plans.
In addition to updating its global aspirations, Tubi said that Tubi Kids will arrive on Oct. 21, and bring with it more than 1,200 age-appropriate movies and television shows. The service will initially roll out in the U.S. to customers using Roku devices, with more device and platform launches to come.

“We’re ramping up our international expansion with the U.K. launch being the first of several forthcoming territories and look forward to announcing them soon,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of Tubi, in a statement. “The launch of Tubi Kids reinforces our dedication to offer an age-appropriate viewing environment – super-serving kids and families with a robust amount of content.”
In June, Tubi announced it had streamed 94 million hours of content during the month of May. Since then, it has grown to more than 132 million hours in September – a 40% increase in four months. At the same time, the service said that it has more than 20 million monthly active users after record growth throughout the first half of 2019.
Over the past year, Tubi has been busy expanding its distribution partner list. In November 2018 the company signed a deal to be integrated on Comcast Xfinity’s X1 platform. Not long after, Tubi showed up on Cox Contour, which is a licensed version of X1. Last month, Tubi’s app arrived on Vizio SmartCast TVs.
