Charter Communications and NBCUniversal reached a deal to provide free access to Peacock Premium for Spectrum subscribers.
The cable provider said that NBCUniversal’s streaming service will be available free for 12 months for most Spectrum TV customers and for 90 days for Spectrum Internet customers, starting today.
“We are pleased to partner with NBCUniversal to provide our video and broadband customers even greater access to Peacock’s entertainment, sports and news programming,” said Tom Montemagno, executive vice president of programming acquisition for Charter, in a statement. “As the video landscape rapidly changes, we are committed to innovating and finding ways to provide the most valuable content to our customers, wherever and whenever they want, and making Peacock Premium available to millions of Spectrum customers nationwide furthers this goal.”

“Peacock is an increasingly important destination for viewers who rely on NBCUniversal for even more original and library content, including entertainment, Hispanic, news and sports programming,” said Matt Bond, chairman of content distribution at NBCUniversal, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with Charter and offer Peacock Premium as an additive experience to our portfolio.”
The new promotional offer appears to be an extension of a similar agreement for extended free trials of Peacock Premium that Charter and NBCU announced in January.
Charter has been increasing embracing streaming as traditional linear TV subscribers opt out. The company recently said that it has more than 10 million customers who strictly stream video from the company.
Earlier this year, Charter began offering HBO Max, Netflix and YouTube apps on its Spectrum TV guide and secured rights to Paramount+, Pluto TV, BET+ and Noggin as part of a new carriage agreement with ViacomCBS.
“These comprehensive agreements with ViacomCBS recognize the fast-changing pace of the subscription video business and provide us the flexibilities to adapt for the benefit of our customers while also furthering our strategic interests in the advanced advertising realm and aggregated video store concept with the addition of the streaming apps,” said Montemagno.
