Titan Channels, the free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) offering from European TVOS provider Titan OS, is poised for broader distribution alongside a dedicated app and remote control button via a new strategic partnership with global semiconductor supplier MediaTek.
Announced Monday, the agreement significantly expands Titan Channels footprint, enabling OEM partners using MediaTek -powered platforms to activate the FAST content offering directly on their devices.
Typically a built-in UI feature on smart TVs powered by the Titan OS, Titan Channels will be embedded in the MediaTek TV Platform and launch as a standalone application for partners across the TV SoC supplier’s platform portfolio. The Titan Channels app, featuring a collection of free ad-supported streaming channels, will also get more visibility for content discovery and be easily accessible to users via the partnership, thanks to prominent placement in the favorite apps row of the TV user interface and a dedicated remote control button.
Titan Channels offered a curated and localized portfolio of FAST channels with content from global and local providers across genres including entertainment, news, sports, documentaries and single-IP channels.
As for distribution, Bart Bomers, CCO at Titan OS, told StreamTV Insider that Titan Channels will become available on up to 2 million additional devices per year through the new MediaTek relationship and integration.
“From a distribution perspective, this is significant because it materially increases the annual reach of Titan Channels, strengthens Titan’s scale proposition for content partners and advertisers, and further reinforces Titan OS’s position as a growing independent platform in the connected TV ecosystem,” Bomers commented.
That means more opportunity for eyeballs and ad revenue, which also potentially can help Titan attract additional content partners to its platform and OEMs that want to participate in monetization.
In the announcement, Titan OS CEO and Founder Jacinto Roca said the MediaTek partnership signifies “a major milestone to scale Titan Channels across Europe and beyond.”
Roca also commented on the importance of placement and increased accessibility for the content, while noting local sales teams in European markets will continue to support ad sales for monetization.
“By embedding Titan Channels into the MediaTek TV platform and as a standalone app with premium visibility, we significantly increase the reach of FAST content,” Roca stated. “Combined with our local sales teams on the ground in key European markets, we are uniquely positioned to drive monetisation and deliver incremental revenues in a fragmented market.”
It’s the latest expansion for Titan OS, which has been working to make a name for itself powering smart TVs across Europe. Speaking to StreamTV Insider earlier this year, Titan SVP VP of People and Marketing Tobi Pfalzgraff described how the fragmentation factor is particularly pronounced in Europe and something one needs to account for and know how to address when building TVOS platform.
Commenting on the very fragmented European market, he noted that it starts with languages and legislation but continues with content rights, providers and preferences of consumers.
And anyone who wants to be successful in Europe “needs to solve this challenge,” Pfalzgraff said.
Since its founding in 2024, Titan expanded OEM customers and licensed the TVOS to TV brands including Philips, AOC, JVC, Sony and Vestel, bringing its TVOS reach to 18 million active users.
In December, Titan secured around $58 million is series A funding, led by private equity firm Highland Europe, to help the Barcelona-based company enhance and expand its TV operating system in Europe and beyond – where part of the aim is to serve as an alternative to walled gardens and big tech players.
And now with a new partnership with the worldwide No. 1 TV SoC supplier, it’s expanding reach for content partners and ad revenue opportunity on Titan Channels, as well as delivering more free streaming content options for viewers across MediaTek TV Platform partners in Europe.
“By bringing Titan OS capabilities into the advanced MediaTek TV Platform, we not only provide our customers with a robust foundation for innovation, but also significantly enhance content discovery and seamless access to free streaming channels for consumers,” stated Cody Huang, Senior Director, MediaTek.
